The Popularity Of Perfume Bottles
Women choose perfume - and men choose perfume for their women - based on a number of factors; most importantly an attraction to a particular scent is the reason that people largely choose the fragrance for them. But another factor that comes into play in the decision - and one that is often overlooked - is an attraction to the bottle in which the perfume is sold. Perfume bottles - offered in a variety of sizes, colors, and materials - reflect the personality of the scent and invariably draw the attention of consumers who are attracted to the packaging.
Brand marketing is a giant machine wherein experts take a product and create a niche in the marketplace. In order to do this a multitude of decisions must be made including logo, bottling, and packaging for retail sale. Perfume bottles are often just as important as the scent inside them and can be just as responsible for overall sales.
For those who have not even tested the perfume, the bottle itself can be the selling point; the thing that prompts them to try the perfume initially. Marketing experts recognize this fact and design bottles with the consumer in mind; packaging is important and they understand that it must never be overlooked if they are to create a successful and financial viable product.
Perfume bottles are so specific in their design and make such an impact among consumers that an enormous world of collectors have emerged - dedicated to finding and purchasing perfume bottles of every conceivable variety. The International Perfume Bottle Association - with thousands of members around the world - is dedicated to putting bottle enthusiasts in contact with each other so that they can find those designs that they have been seeking. This association is so popular that it publishes a quarterly magazine, holds an annual convention, and offers an online gallery where visitors can see examples of beautiful bottles from around the world - from antiques to contemporary designs.
Some of the different variations of bottles include art glass - creative designs blown from glass in styles ranging from art deco to antique cameo glass; atomizers that use atomizer bulbs to deliver a spray of scent; stopper designs; crystal; and a variety of creative designs in line with the trend of the day. These bottles can fetch quite high prices on the collector market as bottle enthusiasts compete to own their favorite designs.
Some collect these bottles in an effort to represent different time periods throughout history. Still others prefer to collect contemporary bottles -made simply for the purpose of art - for decorative purposes in their home. These stunning designs are crafted by artists and are generally made from hand blown glass of all different colors and with the use of glass stoppers.
Perfume bottles have delighted us for generations - encapsulating our favorite scents and setting the tone for the fragrance to which it is home. But beyond their functional use, such beautiful bottles delight perfume enthusiasts and collectors alike and add an interesting decor to any home.

What might happen if we use HF hydrofluoric acid and 1- a glass stopper is used on a storage bottle contain HF?
2- to a glass tap (stop-cock) is left with a residue of this chemical in it
3- what precautions can be taken to avoid these situations
This is a hard question! whos clover can be answer it!!
Well, it depends on the concentration of HF. In general though, the previous answerer is mostly correct, although the hexafluoro silicate complex is the much more common result. In the lab we usually use teflon storage bottles and plastic stoppers. There are also burettes with teflon taps. The effect you get is that pinholes are etched in the glass and it is structurally weakened. HF is used in the semiconductor industry for cleaning silicon wafers (dissolving the SiO2 surface layer). It's also used for decorative etching of glass. It is MUCH more dangerous than any other acid because splashes pass through the skin without burning and attack the bone.

Allan Muir: Halak trade poses risks for Blues and Habs
The hockey world was stunned on Thursday to learn that Canadiens GM Pierre Gauthier had finally drawn the curtain on the league's longest-running drama by dealing away playoff hero Jaroslav Halak. But the most surprising twist to the story? Apparently there was another team involved in the trade.
